Has the world changed, or have you?

“Everything is farther away than it used to be.  It’s twice as far to the corner – and they’ve added a hill!  I’ve given up running for the bus too – that goes faster than it used to.  Steps are steeper than in the old days, and have you noticed the smaller print they use in the newspapers and telephone books?

There’s no point in asking anyone to read aloud either – everyone speaks in such a low voice I can hardly hear them.  And what about the material they use in clothes?  It’s getting so skimpy, especially around the waist and hips!

If you ask me, even people are changing.  For a start, they’re much younger than they used to be when I was their age.  On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am.  I ran into an old friend the other day and do you know she’d aged so much she didn’t even recognise me!

I got to thinking about the poor thing while I was combing my hair this morning and I glanced at my reflection.  Would you believe, they don’t even make good mirrors like they used to …
